Ethos - "A Space For Spiritual Encounter"
Ethos is a space that allows those deeper prayers, the unseen longings, the timid questions and the useless burdens to be gently explored in words, music and images and re-imagined in the features of Jesus of Nazareth and his gifts of insight and wisdom.
Ethos is a place where questioning, exploring, doubting and discovering is encouraged and celebrated.
In my own spiral journey of faith, there are places beyond the boundaries of dogma and doctrine where I learnt more of the vastness of love’s being. It seems that the more deeply we seek, the more space we need. For many there comes a time when we can no longer be satisfied with receiving faith from another’s mouth, but need the freedom to explore, experience and expand into a vision of the divine that resonates with the view from the here and now, of living in this moment. A view quite different from the one experienced from the hillsides and fields of a hundred years ago or more. To our eyes the fields are made of stars millions of light years away and we ride waves into quantum oceans beyond our sight.
Some say there has been a paradigm shift, a movement into a new way of being, yet we still are bemused and bedazzled by life. We still bear wounds and hidden darkness that confuse and constrict. Yet we are called to a freedom beyond our wildest dreams, by the intangible otherness we have shrunk into God.
I chose a pathway to this freedom, one covered with manmade briars that I needed to disentangle. When I had fought through the should knots and cut through the threats, I found a way, taught by wisdom through a carpenter centuries ago.
Ethos invites you to disentangle and deconstruct enough to see the wood from the trees and find a way into the whole of being; your being and mine whose source is the source of all being, expressed in a carpenter from Nazareth and many more since.
