Ethos - "A Space For Spiritual Encounter"

Ethos is a space that allows those deeper prayers, the unseen longings, the timid questions and the useless burdens to be gently explored in words, music and images and re-imagined in the features of Jesus of Nazareth and his gifts of insight and wisdom.

It is all change for 2011

It is all change for 2011

Over the last three years we have been holding regular "Alternative Worship" services for people to attend. In 2011 we are looking at changing Ethos from an event where people who attend are are just attendees, to services where Ethos becomes a group of people who want to get involved.
So if you are interested in being part of a community who explore what Alternative Worship and/or Fresh expressions actually is, then please contact us for more information.

February Ethos

The Image of God.

Humans love to solidify the face of God. The God of Jesus could not be captured just as the wind can’t be framed and set on the mantelpiece. Jesus knew God as Pneuma, the breath of life, the source of being. The wind that blows were it will.

Yet like children we long to see the face of the one who bore us. We need eyes to gaze into and a smile that re-members our fractured self. So we look to our brother whose face shone with the radiance of Being. His resemblance can be the beginning of our searching and uncovering of our deepest identity as God’s beloved offspring.

We invite you to join us in our exploration of the face of God.

We invite all people of faith to

a time of alternative worship

March 1st 7.30pm – 9pm.

Lent, a time of preparation, is the period leading up to Easter. We remember how Jesus went into the desert to pray and fast for forty days and forty nights and how he was tempted.

Next Meeting

1st March 7:30pm

Oasis in the Desert

We have had our first meeting. Around 45 people turned up and gave some great feedback.

As the it was Epiphany we used the wise men following the star, with stations of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

Ethos invites you to follow your star

January is the season of new beginnings, of wondering if we are where we should be, or could be, so come with us, spend some time immersing yourself in the journey of your life, letting go of your fears, accepting who you are and bringing your gift of yourself into a sacred place.

In the Christian calendar this is the season of Epiphany, of new discovery about our meaning, purpose and life. So like the wise men who travelled to see the new born child at this time, we too can journey to discover the new in us and find the star in our heart.

We invite people of faith and no faith to an alternative experience to journey with us on January 11th 7.30pm – 9pm.at St. Nicholas Church Battenburg Ave, Northend, Portsmouth. PO2 0SR
